Harris County Tax Assessor - Collector
The County Tax Assessor – Collector is a county-wide elected official who serves a four-year term.
The Tax Assessor - Collector and Voter Registrar has 3 main duties:

Assessing and collecting and disbursing property taxes for 70 jurisdictions which includes Harris County. The Office maintains almost 1.5 million tax accounts.

Processing Motor Vehicle title transfers and registrations. This also includes a change of address on motor vehicle records.

Registering voters and maintaining voter rolls for Harris County.
Other responsibilities include:

Mapping voter precinct boundaries.

Issuing alcoholic beverage licenses.

Issuing coin-operated machine permits.

Collecting hotel occupancy taxes.

Issuing disabled parking placards.

Registering and titling of boats.
